In DVR and NVR devices with XMeye software, some users may encounter problems such as frequent update errors and device resets. This problem is usually due to poor security settings or default network port that can allow abuse or unwanted access to the device. In this tutorial, we will tell you how to fix this problem by applying simple security changes.
Steps to fix the update error problem and reset the XMeye device
- Disconnect the network cable
First of all, disconnect the network cable from the DVR or NVR device. - Change username
Change the username of your DVR/NVR device from Admin mode to a hard password. This contributes to the overall security of your network and reduces the possibility of unauthorized access to the device. - Change DVR password
Change the device’s default password to a more complex password. It is recommended to use a combination of numbers, upper and lower case letters and symbols such as “@” to increase the security level and limit unwanted access. - Change the network port of the DVR device
The network port of the device is set to 34567 by default. By changing this port to another number, your device will be more secure against cyber attacks. According to the experience of users, you can use the following ports:- Media Port: Number 2222
- HTTP Port: number 8282
- DNS settingsAccording to the tested settings, for DNS from the address (Primary: 178.22.122.100 – Secondary: 185.51.200.2) use

Possible causes and additional recommendations
These problems are generally caused by the weak security of the device and may be attacked or attempted unauthorized updates. In addition to changing the password and port, note that some reset problems may also be caused by the device’s hardware:
- Check the adapter and hard drive: If the device does not update and resets frequently, the problem could be from the high current required by the hard drive or a weak adapter. In such a situation, changing the adapter with a more powerful 12V model (it is better to use a 12V 5A adapter) can solve the problem.
